1950 Marx, U.S. Airforce Airplane in Original Box

1950 Marx, U.S. Airforce Airplane in Original Box

Pristine mint in original box, heavy gauge pressed steel U.S. Airforce military airplane. Old store stock never played with. Superb  high gloss khaki enamel finish.

Twin dummy engines with rotating metal propellers. Steel rod landing gear supports with wooden wheels. Original military style decals on both wings and right fuselage. The right rear horizontal tail wing is embossed with the Marx logo.

Each main wing also has a single 1/8" hole, drilled 1" from the end. A string could be threaded and knotted through the holes for realistic play.

Unlike many of Marx's tin litho planes that had separately attached wings this is a factory assembled single piece airplane. My research indicated that it was manufactured for only one year and was then discontinued. It's the first mint in box example I've found.

The box is a simple text style printed with khaki colored lettering. Circled stars and "metal construction" are also included on the box.

Size: Wingspan 15½". Fuselage 10".
